Happy Earth Day! Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It was first celebrated in 1970, and is now coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network and celebrated in more than 193 countries each year. The same year Richard Nixon signed the Environmental Protection Agency into existence and it began operating that December More recently on Earth Day 2016, the landmark Paris Agreement was signed by the USA, China, and some 120 other countries. This agreement signifies another huge step forward in climate change control. This year the 'March for Science' will take place on Earth Day in Washington D.C

Mother's Day

Mother’s Day is a holiday honoring motherhood that is observed in different forms throughout the world. The American incarnation of Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914. Jarvis would later denounce the holiday’s commercialization and spent the latter part of her life trying to remove it from the calendar. While dates and celebrations vary, Mother’s Day most commonly falls on the second Sunday in May and traditionally involves presenting mothers with flowers, cards and other gifts.
